Title: Lien on my house from former spouse income tax

My husband and i have been separated for four years. I live in ontario and he lives in alberta. We have a house that we both own. Cra put a lien on the house for outstanding business income tax. I was not aware of this untill i tried to remortgage my house to get money for property taxes.. Can cra put a lien on my property without my knowledge? The lien is for 40,000 and i owe 20,000 in property taxes. House was bought for 197,000 and is now worth 200,000. We still owe 167,000 on the property. What should i do
