Consumer Proposals / Found a replacement for Affirm!
« on: March 24, 2018, 10:32:40 PM »
Currently, I have cap1 gold mc with $4K cl and the affirm mc with $1k cl.
Affirm is soooo expensive to maintain. The annual fee is $120 a year! What a rip-off! I pay off the balance each month so I don't pay any interest.
Anyway, I've been looking to replace the affirm for quite some time now. I applied for the National m1 mc but got declined and same with Canadian tire. Took a risk in applying for the cap1 aspire cash. The criteria says good credit. Well, my credit score is far from good. It's still in the low 500. I thought one hard hit wouldn't do much damage to my already damaged credit. So, I applied and surprisingly, got approved. Woohoo! I don't know how much I got approved for. I'll update when I get the card in the mail.
I'm so happy!!! Goodbye affirm!  ;D

Consumer Proposals / 1 year since I filed for CP
« on: October 28, 2017, 07:39:57 PM »
So, it's been a year! Phew! My equifax credit score sits at 542 and transunion at 502.
I have capital one gold mc and just had my credit limit increased from $2500 to $4000. Still have the affirm mc w/ credit limit of $1,000. I've been using credit responsibly and paying more into my proposal when I have extra money. My target is to pay everything off by 2018. My car payments will be done mid-2018. I'll put that freed up money towards my proposal.

Savings-wise, it's really a challenge to save. I've drastically downgraded my lifestyle to make everything work.

I also applied for other cc but everyone declined me. I wanted to replace the affirm with another card. But I guess that's not gonna happen.

Consumer Proposals / Waiting for decision
« on: September 03, 2016, 11:40:49 PM »
Been lurking on this forum for a while now. I filed my proposal 2 weeks ago. Can't wait for the 45 days to be over. It's been a stressful process. Initially, I applied for debt consolidation from a bank but got declined. I also explored debt mgt program offered by a non profit but the monthly payments are not affordable at all.  After exhausting all options, I finally decided to go with a cp.

I owe a total of $46K. Half of that is Scotiabank. My offer to creditors is $14,500. I am hoping that all of them would vote yes. I just want to get out of debt and have a fresh start.
