Consumer Proposals / Help with CRA
« on: December 02, 2015, 11:20:18 AM »
Here is my situation:

Last year I filed a CP in August.  My trustee filed a interim tax return and CRA was part of my CP. Now CRA has called back and say I owe that money still.  The CRA agent states that I cannot include taxes owed in the same year as I filed!  How can this be correct?  I have contacted my trustee and he is looking into it, but they are in no hurry.  In the meantime, CRA is threatening to garnish my wages. I don't think that the CRA is correct.  Everything that I have read states that taxes owing can be a part of my CP.  Am I wrong?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Consumer Proposals / I filed my CP today

Well I did it.  Filed my CP today.  I owed just under 200K.  How the hell did I get myself into this situation?  So many things happened to me that was out of my control, but in the end it was all my fault.   I feel such a great sense of relief and such a great sense of sadness.  I am so disappointed in myself  :'(.

Proposed 1K a month for 60 months.  Hoping that the creditors will not force me in bankruptcy, certain aspects of a CP are more preferable for me.

I only have maybe 10-15 years left to rebuild my life before retirement. Outside of 15K in RSP's, I have no other assets.   I currently earn $100K+ per year (gross), but I can't expect that much in the future.  I am working in a young man's industry.  I am also paying alimony of $3K per month.

Any suggestions for a 10 year plan?
