Question about renting during bankruptcy
« on: February 26, 2015, 01:58:21 PM »
Unfortunately due to a number of unforeseen events in my life and poor spending habits in my youth, I'm likely going to file for bankruptcy.  I have a question:  I've been renting an apartment for nearly 5 years now and never missed a payment and have been an overall good tenant and will continue to make my rent in bankruptcy.    My question is can they evict me for declaring bankruptcy?

As long as you have made the payments on time, they have no reason to evict you. I am in a bankruptcy and l rent and have no problems.

As long as you don't owe your landlord any money, you aren't required to notify them because they aren't a creditor. The same applies to utilities such as electricity and gas.
