RRSP LOAN AFTER RECEIVING CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION
« on: February 01, 2017, 09:44:31 PM »
Hello Everyone,

I just wanted to say this site has helped me a lot in the whole Consumer Proposal process and it is much appreciated.

I wanted to see if anyone could answer my question: Has anyone had any luck with getting an RRSP Loan through one of the major financial institutions?

A little background on myself: I received my certificate of completion on March 2016 and I am currently doing everything in my power to rebuild my credit. I am in the need of getting an RRSP to help offset some of the taxes I paid in 2016 and obviously for savings reason. I read a couple posts where people were able to go to BMO to get an RRSP Loan but those posts were older (2 or more years)

Any help would be appreciated and if there is anyone out there that has any questions about the process of a Consumer Proposal please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you.

I was able to get a RSP loan from BMO within my first year after paying off my CP
now, my BMO rep had told me that originally it didn't look like it was going to go through (she had to get on the phone with the credit department and explain my situation)

it was a $2,000 RSP loan, paid bi-weekly for one year

good luck

I am going to look into this also.  I emailed my financial advisor at the bank and this is what he said....

"My understanding is that RSP loans are looked at somewhat differently than other loans and it would make sense to look at it any time.  Would this be in your wife's name?  Do you want me to have someone connect with you that deals with RSP loans?   If you are interested I would look at it soon because things get very busy at the branch as it gets later in February".

Looks like we can get an RRSP loan is we desire even though our proposal was just paid off in Jan.  They don't report to the  credit agency's though so no help with your score.
