Filing Taxes while in a Consumer Proposal
« on: April 13, 2017, 02:18:53 PM »
Hi Alll!!

This is my first post. Just under a year in my CP...

This is my first time filing taxes while in a consumer proposal... Just a question or 2 regarding refunds from Income Tax, and if having troubles does the onus fall on your trustee to resolve with CRA, or on myself..?

I was advised that if I were entitled to a refund, I would receive the funds;
However I have reviewed my notice of assessment for this  year  & CRA applied the refund to the debt that should technically no longer be listed....? I know the debt technically 'exists' until I've completed the proposal, but this seems very wrong.
I contacted my trustee who advised I should contact the CRA on my own...
Wouldn't that be something the trustee should look into?

I would appreciate any previous experience or matter of opinion regarding this!
thank you,

Is the CRA part of the proposal?  I just got $3400 back in income tax and we just paid our proposal off in Jan.
