Title: 1 year this week our proposal was paid off....
Post by: Wetcoaster on January 10, 2018, 07:55:40 PM
Kind of an anniversary of sorts.

Proposal was accepted July 2016.....paid off Jan 7 / 2017

The proposal has been paid off 1 year now....2 to go before it drops off.

Equifax is now 660
Transunion is   650
RBC/TRansunion score is 712

Thinking of applying for another credit card.

Any ideas?

If they weren't one of your CP creditors, try Costco Mastercard from Capital One.  I am still in my CP with a credit score in the low 500's.  The gave me a CC with $10K limit.  Who knows how they approve/deny applications.

What credit card/s do you currently have right now? I have the cap1 gold mc and affirm. I'm thinking of replacing the affirm with another card.

I have 2 Mastercards from Capital One.  I had an original secured card that turned into a Gold MC. I took a chance on applying for a Costco MC.  To my surprise, I got it.  I had an Affirm card, but decided to cancel it. On principle, I couldn't pay $144 annual fee and 40% interest (even though I never ran a balance).  The only other card I applied for was an Amazon Visa.  I got declined.

I have two cards that I applied for about a month after paying off my Consumer Proposal and was approved for both.

Capital One - Unsecured  (never had to get the secured card)
Canadian Tire MasterCard - had my limit increased twice now.

Both are great but I like my Canadian Tire card better then the Cap One as Can tire upped my limit multiple times whereas Cap One wont budge.

Capital One was part of our proposal....but I did read somewhere that after 1 year you can apply to them again.  I think I will call them to find out.

I have a People's Trust secured card....my wife has the Affirm.

Her income is over $100,000.....we have a 0% car loan with $3900 left and a mortgage that we are paying.

My Telus Mobility bill also gets reported to both .

Will look into the Canadian Tire Card.

Affirm is expensive. I pay $10 a month for using it. I pay off the balance every month.
I'll try the costco cap1.

I agree that Affirm is expensive. I've also read that they are struggling financially so they are no longer issuing credit cards.
It's great to hear that some of you are being approved for credit cards when the CP is still showing on your credit reports.
Hopefully we will have the same experience once we are out of our CP for a year.  :)

Have you tried applying for capital one?
