1 year since I filed for CP
« on: October 28, 2017, 07:39:57 PM »
So, it's been a year! Phew! My equifax credit score sits at 542 and transunion at 502.
I have capital one gold mc and just had my credit limit increased from $2500 to $4000. Still have the affirm mc w/ credit limit of $1,000. I've been using credit responsibly and paying more into my proposal when I have extra money. My target is to pay everything off by 2018. My car payments will be done mid-2018. I'll put that freed up money towards my proposal.

Savings-wise, it's really a challenge to save. I've drastically downgraded my lifestyle to make everything work.

I also applied for other cc but everyone declined me. I wanted to replace the affirm with another card. But I guess that's not gonna happen.

Concrats on 1 year.

It will be 1 year this January that we paid off our CP.  At that time we are hoping to get a Capital One card as they were part of our proposal....and I was told to apply after 1 year to them.

Way to go...you will be paid off in no time.

Wetcoaster.

I have a cap one card that I applied for about a month after my CP ( made sure my credit file reflected the completion). I was approved instantly with a 3k credit limit.

I don't think it would hurt to try now, you shouldn't need to wait a year. On another note I applied to Can Tire at the same time as well and was approved for a higher limit then my Cap one. It is helping me
In leaps and bounds to improve my credit score as these two new credit lines post CP are above the 2k threshold.

Its worth a try

Hey Jenny

Canadian Tire was not part of my proposal but Capital One was. It was suprising when I applied to both and was approved by both but here I am using them but keeping the balance low and limit high. seems to be working as my credit score continues to improve. Best of luck

Take care

Thx for the replies

Jan is only a few months away so I think we will wait to be sure.

My spouse has an income of over $100,000 and her credit scores are as of now  Transunion 619....Equifax 644 and RBC/Transunion is 702

I am sure she will be approved at some point.

My income is much much  lower but my Equifax and RBC/Transunion scores are higher than hers for some reason.

We actually just want a card with a decent limit in case of emergency.

Right now I have a People's Trust and she has an Affirm M/C total limit between the 2 is $1500.
