Bankruptcy and Consumer Proposal

Today we met with our trustee, I signed for a bankruptcy and my husband signed for a consumer proposal. My fear is that I may have signed a little too prematurely and didn't think things through. My husbands income has to be reported each month on MY statement, as I have absolutely no surplus income does this mean that half of the money he contributes to the household have to go to my bankruptcy or is it only the surplus of mine. I just don't understand why I have to show his income?????

Surplus income is calculated based on your income. He is required to provide his income so the trustee can determine the household income and if there are any non-discretionary expenses that should be subtracted. Check out the following website for more information:
