Trans union won't set balances to Zero
« on: March 29, 2015, 03:58:09 PM »
Ive been discharged and sent both Equifax and Transunion my certificate of discharge in order to update my credit report. Equifax made all balances zero; however, Transunion did not.  I phoned them to ask why and they informed me that the creditors requested this. While this may be true, my credit report shows balances owing that I do not owe, payments being made that Im not paying, and open/revolving accounts that I do not have. All which paint an inaccurate report of my credit. In the notes at the bottom of each account there is one sentence that the debt was included in bankruptcy, but the summary and account details do not reflect this.

It's also odd that Equifax would set balances to zero if creditors requested the same.

Has anyone experienced this and how did you rectify it?

Dear Jack
I had the same issue with Transunion, i just gave up because they won't do anything .  Equifax put all my balances to zero but Trans Union  sent me a long letter about their policy to report balance for 6 years , a senseless policy, .........then i gave up. Keep in mind , down the road , they wonèt have any impact on your file.

Good Luck.
