Surplus Payment
« on: May 30, 2016, 01:10:36 PM »
Hello
Well after a en my long 21 months I have gotten my discharge :D :D :D ( I think this was the longest 21 months ever ) .  I have gotten a letter from Trustee with a " Dividend " sheet which I believe shows what each creditor was paid . My question is for one of the debits my co-signer has been paying back the amount owed . In looking at this  sheet they have also gotten money from my surplus income . Is this right ...would that not be " double dipping " ??   Should the original debit be adjusted to reflect the surplus payment ?  Any advise of information would be helpful .

Thanks

The short answer is that the debt owed by the co-signer should be less any amount that you paid. However, interest may still be accruing on the amount owed by the other individual.
