Income Taxes - Pre and Post Bankruptcy
« on: June 04, 2010, 02:32:33 PM »
My husband and I have just recieved our Notice of Assessmants from CRA for our 2009 taxes that our Trustee has submitted and there is a huge discrepancy which I can't put my finger on.  First off, we recieved a letter from the trustee stating that will will have to pay CRA just over $500 for our 2009 taxes, which is fine, we can live with that BUT the new NOA we just receieved states we have to pay over $2,000 by June 17 or the daily interest charges will take effect!  I don't know what to do! we don't have that kind of money (my husband is a student and I work full time but can barely pay house bills) and we've NEVER had to pay that much to CRA EVER before! I am wondering how our Trustee sent in our income tax documents because this is simply OUTRAGEOUS!!
Any comment would be great! ???

If you get your discharge, you could phone CRA to have more details about the outstanding and  also make sure you get all your copies from the trustee. if the debt stands , you could make  an arrangement, I owed them sometimes ago  $ 2000, they accepted  what I could afford.
